Is AI-Assisted Programming Really That Unreliable?

The Origin

Recently, there’s been a hot topic — AI-assisted programming.

Even before ChatGPT emerged, people had already started researching such applications. For instance, GitHub Copilot officially launched in June 2022. As technology advances, we see large models becoming increasingly powerful, such as the capabilities I demonstrated with Cursor, Windsurf, and Bolt. I’m sure you were quite impressed after seeing them.

Originally, this was a good thing. Everyone was optimistic about the direction of AI programming — programming becoming simpler, helping to solve many practical problems like data analysis, which is exciting. However, recently, many people have suddenly come out saying that “AI programming” is just a toy, with no real utility, and some even use the word “nauseating.”
