What is the Use of Claude’s MCP (Model Context Protocol)?

Claude (Anthropic) recently released the MCP (Model Context Protocol), which has generated significant interest in my social circle. You can clearly feel that everyone is very excited. After trying it out myself, I decided to write this article to share with you.

MCP is a new open standard protocol designed to establish a secure two-way link between large models and data sources. Here is its official diagram.

This diagram shows that when using Claude or other IDEs, the model (currently referring to Claude) can connect with different data servers through this two-way communication protocol. Each connected data source can vary widely; for example, the first two connections in the image access local data, while the third operates remote files directly over the internet.
